Using the schemes of learning

In years 7, 8 and 9 the curriculum is divided into three tiers; support, core and extension. All students study the same broader unit but at differing levels of challenge.

The tiers change names at Year 10 when students typically start their GCSE's. Here students are placed on Foundation/Crossover or Higher/Extension and the content being studied differs for each stage.

For example, Year 10 Unit 5 is 'Volume and Surface area' for foundation/crossover students and 'Circle Theorems' for the higher/extension students.
You have the autonomy to decide which tier would be best suited to the different classes or students within your school.

On the Scheme of Learning page you will find an overview of the units taught throughout each year.

It also shows the term and number of weeks for each unit. This is a flexible guide to the amount of time recommended for each unit.

Each unit can be clicked to open up a pop up window. Here you will see the individual objectives for this unit listed. These are again linked to take you to the resources available for this objective.
